Blogger's 5th anniversary
posted by Andrés on Thursday, August 26, 2004
"We just launched a cool new tool at Pyra. It's called Blogger. It's an automated weblog publishing tool. Unlike Pitas, which, don't get me wrong, is cool, Blogger FTP's your updated weblog page to your own server after each post. This means you can have everything "under the same roof," as Jack put it the other day. You retain complete control. In fact, no one even has to know you're using Blogger. It just makes your life simplier. Check it out. (Coming soon: Automated XML channel creation.)"

And that's how everything started with Blogger in the year 1999, the post was from Evan Williams who created the system and today Blogger is owned by Google.

Congratulations!

Adwords patent lawsuit finally settled..
posted by Andrés on Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Google's income is mostly from the Google Adwords program for advertising on the internet. The bad thing is that Overture registered the patent that consists of displaying ads revelant to the search query provided by the user, and obviously there was a lawsuit that began in the year 2002 and finished this week.

Overture, which is owned by YahoO! Inc agreed with Google to 'license' the patent among other claims regarding Overture's search patents. YahoO! will be paid by GOOGS (Google stocks) which is expected to be around 2.7 million shares.

So Google is the perfect tool for finding Stolen Credit Cards?
posted by Andrés on Tuesday, August 03, 2004
"The Web search giant makes it easy to find card holders' names, addresses and phone numbers, CNET News.com has learned." Source

We all know in our minds that Google is the best search engine, Therefore it shouldn't be a mistery if you can find stolen credit cards through Google. Just for a reminder, Google is the tool to retrieve documents containing X queries separated by spaces.. that is, query "devguides introduction to php" will return documents containing these 4 words without "to" because it's a very common word. According to this little statement we can conclude that we can find anything we want with Google.

Retrieving stolen credit cards doesn't make the Search Giant to look bad, if users aren't happy with it they can send a message to help[at]google.com requesting to remove X web page containing sensitive information. But we can look on the right side about Google technology, teachers can see if a student is involved with plagiarism among other things.

Google is the perfect tool for users, hackers, crackers and any other kind of people that would like to seek for any info.

Should Investors play with Google?
posted by Andrés on Tuesday, August 03, 2004
"Many people are clamoring to get a piece of Google Inc's planned initial public offering, but some experts in market behavior say they think investors would be wise to stay far, far away from it."

An interesting but scary article from YahoO! Finance. Google is the best search engine but the article sends us the message that is quite risky to get involved with Google's IPO.

As far as I know, every business man has to make risks in anything just like the entrepreneurs do it often. NOTE: The article explains the point of view of an expert. Nobody can predict the future.
